Taylor Swift and Keds Put Ladies First in Latest Campaign

Keds is all about women for Fall 2015 with the launch of its new Ladies First Since 1916 campaign. The shoe brand is taking a feminist slant this season to focus on women’s empowerment and to pay homage to its heritage. “Keds was originally created in 1916 to provide ladies with accessible, fashionable footwear to allow them to be who they wanted to be, and go where they wanted to go,” Keds president Chris Lindner said in a statement.

To help promote the Ladies First initiative, Keds is recruiting newly self-identifying feminist Taylor Swift for the campaign. This is not Taylor’s first time working with the brand, having worked on last year’s cat-themed collection to coincide with the release of her 1989 album. “Ladies First is a celebration of amazing women like Taylor Swift who are blazing new trails every day. From CEOing to BFFing, these ladies are doing it all,” Lindner adds.

Keds got female artists in on the action to create backdrops for the campaign, tapping illustrator Priscilla White, surface artist and pattern designer Kendra Dandy, and street artist Paige Smith.
