The MTV Moonman Gets a Jeremy Scott Makeover for the 2015 VMAs

The MTV VMA Moonman just got a dope update, courtesy of none other than Jeremy Scott. The designer was tapped to put his unique spin on the coveted trophy and, of course, it came out looking more modern and badass than ever before. For this year’s show, Scott outfitted the moonman in a pair of his famous winged sneakers (because fresh footwear is a MUST at the VMAs) complete with an enormous peace sign chain.

This new statue is also a lot more colorful – Scott replaced the silvertone design with a rainbow gasoline oil slick hue, also adding a dash of color to the moonman’s flag. “So super stoked to be asked to redesign an icon of pop culture that I adore,” Scott said in a post to Instagram earlier today. “The MTV VMA Moon Man is the coolest award any artist could even win and the ultimate to get to reimagine!” As for the kicks, Scott says, “You didn’t think I would pass up giving him my iconic wings did ya?” Oh Jeremy, we never would.

The MTV VMAs, hosted by Miley Cyrus, will air on Sunday, August 30.
