Mattel has fully committed itself to carving out Barbie’s space in the fashion world (though let’s be real, she already had one) with its new Barbie Fashionistas line and well-curated Instagram account, showing the doll in all manner of stylish outfits, bopping around town with her equally fresh mutiethnic girl squad – in flats no less.
Barbie’s sartorial adventures continue this fashion week with Harper’s Bazaar, for which the doll is guest editing (along with ShopBazaar). Of course, Barbie is stunting on her Instagram in a number of shoppable designer looks for the occasion. A tweedy jacket dress by Sonia Rykiel, black and white printed Tibi crop top and culottes, a black ruffle skirt from Jason Wu – all looks that live women would kill to wear. Ah, the life of a fashion doll.
But perhaps the most adorable ‘gram yet came yesterday, straight from Instagram’s offices, where we see Barbie posing with Eva Chen – or at least Eva Chen’s doll likeness. Either way, it is really, really cute and we can’t wait to see more.
