Watch: Alanis Morissette and James Corden Give ‘Ironic’ the Perfect 2015 Update

Chances are, if you were an angst-ridden teen in the 90s, you’ve heard (and probably loved) Alanis Morissette‘s “Ironic.” Even though the lyrics were devoid of any actual ironies, radio stations loved it and it went on to be one of those tunes that defined the decade.

Some 20 years later, Morissette has teamed up with James Corden to give the classic song a tech-savvy update on The Late Late Show With James Corden because millennials deserve their own version, right? The result was pretty epic.

Instead of rain on your wedding day, Corden and Morissette sing about “swiping left on your future soulmate,” “the Snapchat that you wished you had saved” and “a traffic jam when you tried to use Waze.” Could this version be any more perfect? Yes, actually it could because Corden finally addressed the song’s problematic lyrics, crooning, “It’s singing ironic when there are no ironies.” Mic drop.

Can we please get this on cassette tape iTunes?
