Watch: Miss Universe Host Accidentally Crowns the Wrong Winner

Holy moly. The Miss Universe final just crowned the wrong winner and it’s possibly the most awkward television you’ll ever watch.

Host Steve Harvey wrongly read out Miss Colombia as the winner, who took the crown and bouquet and did her wave and tears thing, but her glory was short-lived when he backtracked and realised that he had made a mistake.

Miss Colombia was demoted to runner-up with Miss Philippines, Pia Wurtzbach, instead taking her place as the official Miss Universe for 2015. Seriously, watch the videos (below). They’re cringeworthy as all hell.

Steve feels “terrible” about the mistake. He has taken to his Twitter to apologise “wholeheartedly” to Miss Colombia, who had her heart broken on international television, Miss Philippines, who was stoked but felt really bad about it, and the viewers who cringed and squirmed while it all went down.

Meanwhile we guess Australia kind of dodged a very embarrassing bullet. It was the highest hopes we’ve ever had since Jennifer Hawkins took out the Miss Universe crown over a decade ago, however, Australia’s Monika Radulovic just missed out on the title after making the final five.

The poor dear lost to Miss Colombia (winner-turned-runner-up), Miss Philippines (runner-up-turned-winner) and Miss USA after being asked about legalising marijuana in Australia during the question round. “The government should weigh up both sides,” Monika said, explaining that the drug has been able to help people in certain circumstances.

Congrats to the winners, runners-up and the winners who became runners-up and runners-up who became winners. The lot of you!

While you’re here, though, remember this?
