Burberry Pays Tribute to David Bowie on the Runway

The world is still reeling after the death of beloved rock and roll legend David Bowie at the age of 69. One of the most influential musicians of our time, Bowie had an indelible impact on fashion, inspiring everyone from Gaultier to Gaga. In the wake of his passing after a private 18-month battle with cancer, the fashion industry is paying homage. Supermodel Kate Moss wore a T-shirt with his face emblazoned on the front and several designers including Paul Smith shared their condolences on social media. One of the most poignant tributes to Bowie took place on the Burberry runway.

Finally, in a personal gesture of admiration, model Hayett McCarthy wrote David Bowie’s name on her hands and flashed the writing for photographers as she walked the runway.

Christopher Bailey told The Telegraph: “It didn’t feel right to do a show that was celebratory today, when the news is so profoundly sad.”  See the full Burberry Men’s Fall 2016 collection below.
