Kanye Blocked Kylie From Landing a $1 Million Puma Deal

Mi Familia

When Kanye West married into the Kardashian family, the sisters must have signed a contract saying they can only work with Yeezy-approved brands. That’s the only way to explain the outspoken rapper’s latest rant in which he chastised Puma for approaching Kylie Jenner for an ambassador role.

Shame on them for thinking Kylie Jenner had the authority to work with any brand she chooses. Yes, she modeled for both seasons of Yeezy’s clothing line but she’s also worked with several other fashion brands from PacSun to Topshop. She even designs her own shoes. Nonetheless, Kanye sees Puma’s perfectly reasonable request as an attempt to “divide the family.” (more…)

ICYMI: Derek Zoolander Gives Vogue a Tour of His Apartment, Answers 73 Questions

Derek Zoolander

has interviewed everyone worth their salt in the industry for its 73 Questions video series, so it makes perfect sense that they’d get personal with the mag’s February 2016 cover star, Derek Zoolander.

Considering the promo trail for this film has been saturated, understandably, we thought we’d revisit this LOL-worthy video with only days left until Zoolander 2 finally hits cinemas. ICYMI, Derek, played by Ben Stiller, treated the fashion bible to a tour of his really, really ridiculously good looking apartment, which is by no means a centre for ants.

Giving some comedic value to what is usually a serious and revealing interview, as displayed by the models, designers and actresses before him, like Victoria Beckham, Sarah Jessica Parker and Blake Lively, Derek attempts to respond to his “Who Am I” question by answering the mag’s quick fire questions the best way he knows how. Sports Illustrated‘s Swimsuit Issue is proceeding with its new-found appreciation of body diversity, tapping plus-size model Ashley Graham as its “SI Rookie” in 2016.

The news follows Aussie model Robyn Lawley’s inclusion in the 2015 edition, where she made history as the first plus-size model to ever grace the Swimsuit Issue’s pages. Ashley was also part of that mag, however only as part of an advertisement for swimwear label Swimsuitsforall.

Sports Illustrated
is unveiling five Swimsuit Issue “rookies” via their Swim Daily blog this week, with Barbara Palvin already announced. Snaps to SI for continuing to mix up its usual contingent of ultra-thin women. We hope this is just the beginning of what appears to be a modelling industry revolution. (more…)

Plumber Dave’s & Hugh Jackman’s Cancer Scares Should Be a Lesson to Everyone

Australia has one of the highest rates of skin cancer in the world, and two home-grown men have shared their personal scares with the world this week in hopes of raising awareness of the life-threatening disease.

Just yesterday Hugh Jackman shared a photo of himself with a plaster across his nose, explaining, “An example of what happens when you don’t wear sunscreen. Basal Cell. The mildest form of cancer but serious, nonetheless.” Basal cell carcinoma is not an invasive cancer, but it does require treatment as some cases can develop into non-melanoma skin cancers. “PLEASE USE SUNSCREEN and get regular check-ups,” Hugh urged. Ruth Bell Fails to Impress as the Face of Jason Wu’s ‘Bizarre’ Spring 2016 Campaign (Forum Buzz)

Jason Wu made it pretty clear that he likes to be in his namesake advertising campaigns while appreciating the company of models like Christy Turlington Burns, Stephanie Seymour and Karlie Kloss. Our forums made no attempt to hide the fact that we loathed the cliché idea, but for Spring 2016, the designer has heard our cries and serves up something totally different and rather unique. Out are the glamorous models and swanky locations in favor of edgy fashion model Ruth Bell, who was shot by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin before a clean, white studio backdrop.

“Is this his attempt to look cool?? Well, let’s look on the bright side – Jason will probably not feature in this campaign. Otherwise everything else is awful. Awful art direction, awful pose, and awful styling. Ruth Bell is not the right girl for this brand, they needed someone more versatile,” Benn98 criticized straight away, setting the tone for comments to come.

“Awful. She reminds me of Agyness Deyn. A haircut/style that’s not her personal style at all but given by her agency,” laughed DutchHomme. (more…)
