Pyer Moss and Reebok Collaborate on a Wild West Collection

Experimental fashion label Pyer Moss just released a collaboration with sports brand Reebok for Fall 2018 entitled “American, Also.” The collection was featured during designer Kerby-Jean Raymond’s New York Fashion Week show last February (the brand’s second collaboration, American, Also. Lesson 2, was included in the Pyer Moss Spring 2019 show).

The collection was inspired by the black cowboys from the Wild West era of the 19th century. The campaign photos kept with the theme by featuring exclusively black models at a horse ranch wearing the collection’s mixture of unisex hoodies and sweatpants. The Western theme is distinguishable on the flared pants, which are inspired by iconic cowboy pants. Another remarkable piece is the sweater made to look like a Western shirt, which is characterized by its button down and collar.

The Pyer Moss x Reebok collection starts at $90 and is currently available online at Reebok and Pyer Moss.

Mickey Mouse Gets His Very Own Levi’s Collection for His 90th Birthday

Another Mickey Mouse collaboration? You read that right. Last week it started with a collaboration with Kate Spade, quickly followed by Vans, and just a few days ago it was with Opening Ceremony, now the latest to create a Disney-branded collection is iconic denim brand Levi’s.

Much like the other collaborations, Levi’s is celebrating Mickey Mouse’s 90th birthday. The Mickey x Levi collection features denim apparel and accessories with Mickey Mouse patterns and motifs. The collection takes inspiration from the past drawing styles of Mickey. Compared to other collaborations, Levi’s takes a more minimalist and classic approach with just one illustration of Mickey on most pieces.

Mickey x Levi will be available November 1 in stores and online. Based on all these collaboration reveals, we wouldn’t be surprised to see more brands hop on the Mickey-wagon to celebrate his big day.

Cardi B Is Glammed Up to the Max on W Magazine’s Annual Art Issue for 2018

We’ll admit it: we lost a little interest in W Magazine when it switched from a monthly magazine to “volumes” issued every other month. The last time the publication took our forum’s fancy was back in November 2017 with Margot Robbie on the cover. Now, exactly a year later, W has our attention again with its annual art issue. Cardi B, the Billboard-topping rapper (and former CR Fashion Book cover girl), is featured on the cover, glammed up to the max and decked out in gold Rodarte, photographed by Mickalene Thomas and styled by Kollin Carter.

Despite W Magazine‘s best efforts, our forum members weren’t feeling it. “This magazine’s days are numbered… haven’t bought a single issue since they went from monthly to volume,” stated GERGIN, the moment the cover came to light.

“What’s with the art issues? And what’s with Cardi B fronting one?” asked EstfaniaAbaddon.

“The devil works hard, but Cardi’s PR team works harder. Does she deserve these covers? I doubt it, but definitely not an ART issue for her,” MDNA chimed in.

The Grace Coddington x Louis Vuitton Capsule Collection Is Decorated With Illustrations of Her Cats

It’s raining cats and dogs for French luxury brand Louis Vuitton and Grace Coddington. The collaboration features a capsule collection of leather goods, accessories, shoes and ready-to-wear, designed by Coddington and the creative director of Louis Vuitton, Nicolas Ghesquière.

A former model and the creative director at large at Vogue, Coddington is known for creating complex and dramatic photoshoots — but she’s also famous for being a huge cat-lover. For the collaboration, Louis Vuitton’s iconic brown LV pattern is adorned with Coddington’s own illustrations of her beloved cats, Pumpkin and Blanket, and Ghesquière’s dog, Léon.

Dubbed the Catogram collection, the handbags are lined with signed mouse-printed canvas and the Cats On Leather collection includes a colorful menagerie across natural leather. There are also bag tags and clutch bags that are designed in the shape of cats and dogs.

In celebration of this collaboration, Louis Vuitton will open a New York pop-up store from October 26 to 12.

Victoria Beckham Wears a Look From Her Fall Collection on the Cover of Vogue Australia’s November Issue

Victoria Beckham is currently celebrating 10 years at the helm of her namesake brand, so it’s no wonder she’s on the cover of Vogue. Following a Beckham family portrait for British Vogue just last month, Victoria now goes solo on Vogue Australia’s latest, exactly two years after her last appearance. Photographed by Bibi Cornejo Borthwick, the designer sports a red lip and look from her Fall 2018 collection, styled by Christine Centenera.

The majority of our forum members weren’t feeling it, however. “I usually like her magazine work — but not every look is going to work, and certainly not that beauty styling. There are moments when you have to accept that you’re not a model, no matter how much you might want to promote your own brand,” noted tigerrouge upon checking out the cover.

“She needs to STOP with these covers. How can anyone in the fashion industry, her designer peers especially, take her seriously with this amount of overexposure? You don’t see the Olsens on covers left, right and centre,” Benn98 chimed in.

“I’m sorry to say this but it looks like her breasts are amputated. That’s all I can see,” said mikel.

Alicia Vikander Stars in Yet Another Mediocre Louis Vuitton Campaign, for Cruise 2019

While Chanel is forever recruiting new brand ambassadors to keep things fresh, the likes of Christian Dior and Louis Vuitton tend to stick to what they think works best. Ever since Alicia Vikander joined Vuitton’s rank of ambassadors back in 2015, our forum members haven’t exactly been her biggest supporters. Alicia’s last campaign for the legendary French fashion house fell flat, as did prior efforts, so it comes as no surprise that the recently unveiled Cruise 2019 campaign was met with a similar lack of enthusiasm. Photographed by Craig McDean, Alicia transports us to the rugged coastline of the Corsican coast while proving once again that modeling isn’t her strongest attribute.

Another total waste of a good trip and photoshoot, if you ask our forum members. “Very nice for a Mango ad,” mocked helmutnotdead.

“Why do I have to suffer from this mediocrity. WHY?” asked TaylorBinque.

“God help this brand and their lack of innovative campaigns. The last time I was in love with their imagery was Spring 2016 when they used a Final Fantasy character,” laughed GERGIN.
