Ellen DeGeneres Wore a Look from Her E.D. Brand at Last Night’s People’s Choice Awards

Last night, Ellen DeGeneres took a seat on the People’s Choice Awards red carpet as she waited for her wife, Portia de Rossi, to take solo “fashion shots” for the press. “I’m asked to move aside because I don’t put the effort into my clothes, apparently,” she told E! News correspondent Giuliana Rancic. But we’re going to come out and say that’s not entirely the truth, especially considering what Ellen was wearing.

The TV host paired a crisp white Saint Laurent button down with a cream colored bomber jacket and trousers from her forthcoming E.D. lifestyle brand. We’d say pairing high and low is a total fashion girl move, even if Ellen doesn’t consider herself one.

The comedienne says E.D.’s clothing line will launch in May, for which we will be patiently waiting.

Essence Magazine Does a Cover Blackout for February Issue

February’s Essence magazine cover star isn’t a starlet or a singer. Instead, it’s a message. A powerful and timely one: “Black Lives Matter.”

This is the first time Essence has not published an image on its cover and Editor-in-Chief Vanessa K. De Luca says she and her staff wanted to highlight what they call a modern-day civil rights movement with a “cover blackout.” It’s a pretty ballsy move, considering cover images are so much of what drives magazine sales. “Pictures are powerful, but so are words,” De Luca writes.

The issue is filled with essays from leading thinkers like New York City’s first lady Chirlane McCray, Angela Davis and Melissa Harris-Perry, who ponder what’s next for black Americans in the middle of this big hurdle.

Last year, Essence paid tribute to Trayvon Martin, one of several slain unarmed black minors, with four covers for its September 2013 issue. The issue featured Martin’s family as well as black celebrities (Boris Kodjoe, Spike Lee and Dwyane Wade) with their sons, posing in hoodies.

You can find the February 2015 issue of Essence on newsstands.

Hanky Panky, the brand behind The World’s Most Comfortable Thong, is entering the fragrance category with the launch of its Eau de Parfum. The perfume was created via collaboration with Symrise and has top notes of Italian bergamot, neroli, lily of the valley and cassis (skin musk, white cedar and soft vetiver make up the base notes).

In a statement to WWD, Gale Epstein, who owns Hanky Panky Intimates with Lida Orzeck said, “We thought that fragrance was a natural extension of intimates, because to smell it you have to be close to a person and you use it daily. We wanted something comfortable, soft and pretty, something that would bring out your inner flirt.” (Note to our neighbors: Perfume shouldn’t be smelled 10 feet away.)

The clear bottle features lace detailing on the back and the 1.7-ounce spray will retail for $70 with the rollerball selling for $26. The scent will be sold in many of the 2,000 specialty retailers that sell Hanky Panky and is also available online. Yesterday, the brand shared a promotional video for the fragrance on Instagram.

Miranda Kerr Goes Semi-Nude for Terry Richardson and Harper’s Bazaar — Again (Forum Buzz)

After seeing Jennifer Aniston on newsstands for two months running, Harper’s Bazaar gives us more of the same old as Miranda Kerr poses semi-nude on the February 2015 cover. Photographed by Terry Richardson (obviously), Miranda sports a rather obnoxious hat from J.W. Anderson teamed with a pair of black high-waisted pants with a gold necklace (also by the British designer) and nothing else.

What do our forum members think? “I feel as if I’ve seen this before but that’s probably because Miranda’s half naked, red lips, white background… your typical Richardson,” posted KateTheGreatest within moments of the cover surfacing on our forums.

“Nothing exciting, unfortunately,” adds justaguy.

Miss Dalloway doesn’t show much enthusiasm towards the cover either and writes, “Back to Terry? Just NO! It’s sleazy, tacky, and nothing I want from my fashion magazine! Leave this stuff for her GQ shoots!”

“Cover death by text…” kokobombon says.

To accompany the feature, Miranda posed for some more pictures by Terry Richardson inside the issue. “Surprised they didn’t go with the shot of her in the red dress. Seems ready for a cover and a bit more fashion focused than the shot of her with the hat. Miranda is always very pretty, but this doesn’t feel fresh,” noted Luxx.

“I actually quite like the editorial, but UGH to Terry Richardson again. Nice to see Miranda though, she’s actually been pretty quiet these past few months and I miss her candid style,” enthuses SallyAlbright.

Beliebers Send Lara Stone Death Threats Over Calvin Klein Ads

Count on crazed teenyboppers to overreact on the Internet. Especially when it comes to their heartthrobs. Justin Bieber fans the world over freaked out this week when they found out that the object of their desire had been tapped as the new face of Calvin Klein. As they are possibly the only demographic that’s pleased to see this much of the singer with his shirt off, we just assumed they would be happy for the guy and let the campaign rock. But when you see your crush in an embrace with another woman, well, that can sometimes be too much to handle.

Good morning

And for a few Beliebers, it was. It seems that while many were down with the campaign, some were not too keen on seeing their collective imaginary boyfriend in a topless embrace with model Lara Stone. A few Beliebers took to social media to offer Stone some death threats.
