Yes! Gemma Ward Got Prada’s Spring 2015 Ad Campaign (Forum Buzz)

Our forums were treated to a preview of Prada’s Spring 2015 campaign before the new year and to our disappointment, Gemma Ward was nowhere to be found, despite her big comeback on the Prada runway during Milan Fashion Week. But we need not have worried because the Aussie beauty is confirmed and we have the proof! Photographed by Steven Meisel in New York City, Gemma stands before the legendary photographer’s lens wearing a patchwork dress, while carrying a leather bag from the most recent collection. Ine Neefs also joins the cast and rumor has it another model will be featured when the full campaign is officially released later in the season.

Ad Campaign Prada Spring 2014 Gemma Ward

Most forum members were thrilled. “Probably being biased but Gemma could have carried the entire campaign on her own. Her shot is so much better than Ine’s. So happy to see her here. Next stop VI,” admired Melancholybaby.

“Stunning. I’m glad that Gemma got the campaign,” added burbuja8910.

Also full of praise was pivoslyakova: “Wooow! That pic of Gemma is making me like the collection a lot more, she makes it look so luxurious, very beautiful.”

JennaaMonroe shared her excitement as she raved, “You can’t expect Gemma and Meisel to fail. That’s near impossible. This is magnificent! Seeing Gemma is delightful and this campaign is killing it!”

Although amazingly, not everyone was so impressed. “Do not get me wrong, I am SO happy to see Gemma but I am not liking the way they did her eyebrows nor the boring concept of the campaign. Come on Meisel!!! You’re a genius, you can do better [than] this!” posted VersaceVixen009.

“Gemma or not, the shot is totally and utterly forgettable. The definition of underwhelming. The only notable thing about this campaign so far is how mediocre and dull it is. Passport photos are more striking and have more personality than this snoozefest,” MyNameIs disapproved.

“Thanks, I find this campaign incredibly dull, Gemma is not doing anything to save this,” replied zacatecas570 in agreement.

eBay Unveils Its Most Shopped Items in 2014

Sales of that hat were up 43 percent.

Just in time for 2015, eBay has unveiled its most shopped items for the past year. It’s fascinating to watch our spending habits unfold — data in action! The findings? The online marketplace’s client base has a solid foot in the pop culture world, and is deeply inspired by what transpires in blogs and tabloids. The Royals, North West and Amal Clooney all affected sales. Can we blame them? Who doesn’t want to dress like royalty, whether it’s Hollywood, music or otherwise?

The findings were interesting, fact-nerds will no doubt love these: Over a million sneakers (a 12 percent increase from last year) were sold on the site. Fitbit won the war over Google Glass (but who didn’t see that coming?) with 370,000 more Fitbits sold versus the specs. And eBay users are far more into Matisse than Koons with 2,000 items related to the Impressionist’s work selling over Koons.

More tidbits:

Overalls Are the New Yoga Pants: “530K pairs of dungarees sold on eBay this year compared to nearly 423K pairs of yoga pants.”

Give Me [Royal Baby] Fever: Prince George made Cath Kidston sales boost up to 107,000 this year. Meanwhile, Balmain, courtesy of North West, saw a 4 percent increase YOY.

The Cold War: Frozen has trumped Barbie, selling 1.7 million items versus Barbie’s 338,000. So long, dream house.

Blame Pharrell: If you didn’t think the Vivienne Westwood hat Pharrell was rocking was going to be a major player on eBay, you haven’t been paying attention. Sales for what the site calls Mountain Hats, aka the Viv, increased 43 percent versus 2013.

The Oscars: When Amal Clooney wore Oscar de la Renta for her wedding, brides-to-be around the world created entirely new Pinterest boards dedicated to her dress. And thus, more than 11,000 ODLR items sold on eBay. (If you’re wondering about Kim Kardashian, 5,000 Givenchy items were sold in 2014, but who’s to say it’s due to her.)

Fur Vendors Douse Protestors With Bleach, Ammonia During Anti-Fur Protest

It’s not every day you hear of an anti-fur protester getting doused with liquid. Usually, it’s the other way around. But a few anti-fur advocates got unexpectedly drenched during a protest at a fur shop located at 520 Broadway in New York City’s SoHo neighborhood. During a very boisterous demonstration, three fur merchants allegedly climbed to the roof of the building and threw buckets containing a mixture of ammonia and bleach onto the angry protestors in the street below. Horrified, yet?

The entire exchange was caught on video, where you will see the protestors getting soaked. It gets worse: A few passersby and an infant also got some of the liquid on them. When police arrived on the scene, they found the three men smelling like bleach and in possession of bottles of the concoction’s ingredients. The trio is currently out on bail, but it’s clear that they were caught red-handed.

Lindsay Lohan Contracts Painful Virus While on Vacation

Just when things started looking up for Lindsay Lohan, a spot of bad news brings her hurtling back down to Earth. The actress and designer reportedly has contracted Chikungunya, a mosquito-transmitted virus while on vacation in French Polynesia. Chikungunya is no picnic either. It causes fever, severe joint and muscle pain that can last days, weeks, or in some cases, months to years.

Lohan dropped the news via her Twitter account, and posted a photo of herself and her travel comrades to Instagram . “I refuse to let a virus effect my peaceful vacation,” she wrote before wishing her followers a happy New Year. Chikungunya doesn’t have a cure, so patients must endure the pain that comes with it. We’re hoping that Lohan isn’t hurting too much and that she’s got good painkillers because Chikungunya is no fun

Hopefully 2015 will prove healthier and far more prosperous for La Lohan.

8 Things We’re Looking Forward to in 2015

Image: @badgalriri

The year’s nearly over, and while we love to reminisce about all the good times over the past 12 months, it’s time to look forward. From design house appointments to the second royal baby, 2015 promises to be anything but dull. So before we officially say goodbye to 2014, here are eight things we’re looking forward to happening (or possibly happening) once we ring in the new year.

Kendall Jenner on Vogue U.S.

There’s no official confirmation that this is going to happen, but let’s be real, things are looking pret-tay good for Kendall Jenner. In 2014, Vogue, like much of the fashion world, began to take a keen interest in the young reality star – she’s already been featured in editorial spreads for the glossy. Her huge social media following combined with fashion’s newfound obsession with her makes her a prime candidate for a Vogue cover. After all, her older sister Kim scored her own cover with hubby Kanye for the magazine’s April issue – even though Anna Wintour doesn’t find the couple tasteful.” Jenner’s odds at a Vogue cover might not be so bad.

John Galliano’s First Margiela Collection

John Galliano was in relative fashion limbo this year (and last year and the previous year…), but now that he’s been officially hired at Margiela, all eyes will be on the French fashion house to see what the designer will deliver in his first collection for the brand. Galliano is poised to take Margiela in a new, exciting direction and we’re very curious to see what he does.
