Miley Cyrus: Grown Up Style

Miley Cyrus. Everyone knows her from her role as Hannah Montana on the Disney Channel’s hit TV show of the same name, but that’s not exactly why she’s on our radar.

Truth be told, we’re a little too old to care too much about anything affiliated with mouse ears. Unless, of course, we’re talking about Jeremy Scott’s Mouse-Eared Fall 2009 RTW collection, or his Mouse-Eared shades from Spring 2010, or the helmet, or the Jeremy Scott x Adidas Mickey Mouse sneakers… wow, Jeremy Scott really likes mouse ears, huh?

We digress. Back to the original subject: Miss Miley.

Gone are the days of looking like the Disney-star-next-door. We’ve really seen Cyrus’ style advance in the past year! In 2010, this teen star has shown us a style that is wise beyond her years.

In the past, Cyrus would often be seen in soft pastel hues, empire waist frocks, graphic prints and flare leg jeans. These days, she can be found roaming the streets looking more like a grown up rock star than a teen pop star. She’s gotten a lot of flack from the general public, but as fashionistas, we like it.

To what do we attribute this sudden shift in taste? We could just chalk it up to getting older, but we don’t want to give her ALL the credit. Often times, celebs have a whole team of professionals giving them ideas and making them look great. Celebrity stylist Simone Harouche from Margaret Maldonado Agency recently told People magazine, “Miley’s style is a natural progression of her growing up and being influenced by the music that inspires her.”

Cyrus’ garments of choice? Shredded tees from Obesity & Speed, custom Siwy shorts, tie-dyed Proenza Schouler tanks, flowy Winter Kate cardigans and lots and lots of skin-tight JET denim, paired frequently with items such as her Balenciaga aviators, Jeffrey Campbell clogs, and Alexander Wang bag.
