Blake Lively: Greatest Style Hits (and a Few Misses)

Showcasing dynamic silhouettes, formidable layers, and almost always on-point accessories, actress Blake Lively's style routinely rivals her upper east side alter-ego, Serena van der Woodsen.

The Gossip Girl star has evolved from a preppy high schooler to a designer-clad femme fatale—both on-screen and off.
Unlike her contemporaries (think Rihanna) who often go to stylistic extremes, Lively knows how to translate trends from the runway into the real world.
Here are just a handful of Lively's top selections from this year's dapper styles.

Back in January, Lively found a new way to show off her legs and still keep warm in New York City with Stella McCartney thigh-highs, featuring strategic cutouts. Though it's probably not a look suitable for the grocery store, it's perfect for getting noticed while strutting the red carpet (left). She hit the Boston Fenway Park premiere in Antonio Berardi's peekaboo lingerie cocktail number (right).
After co-starring in The Town alongside Ben Affleck, Lively appeared at the Toronto International Film Festival decked out in red Chanel haute couture with matching ruby heels (left).
It was an electric blue, rosette-embroidered Marchesa minidress at the Met Costume Institute Gala that had bloggers and fashion insiders debating (left). While her choice might have been considered extreme to some, the Met Gala is one event where over-the-top is practically a requirement.  An eye-catching Marchesa geometric tribal print made Lively a standout at Fashion's Night Out. A slick pair of Louboutins with their iconic red sole operated as the perfect minimalist complement (right).

Don't think Lively can't go the more casual route.
Her travel attire at the Toronto Pearson International Airport somehow managed to simultaneously look last minute and premeditated (right).
The straw fedora also helped keep that long, wavy blonde mane under some control.

However, Lively's outfits don't always hit the top of the charts. Just check out her less-than-super suit for Comic-Con (left). She may have been there to promote Green Lantern, but her low-cut futuristic jumper certainly shifted the focus away from the movie. Lively once again donned Chanel at a party for the label's Soho boutique, but this time, her frame was overwhelmed by the roomy dress and oddly placed parallel black stripes (right).
Even though she may experience the occasional stylistic stumble, Lively always brings the drama. You know you love her. XOXO.
