Fearne Cotton Perfects Cold Weather Layering

Baby, it’s cold outside. But bundling up doesn’t mean you have to end up looking like the abominable snowman. It’s a problem that Hollywood-based stars don’t have to worry about, but British television presenter Fearne Cotton, who hosts the BBC’s Radio 1 and Top of the Pops, doesn’t let the frigid London winter keep her from looking stylish on her commute to the studio. Take a look at how the 29-year-old has perfected the art of layering:

Arriving at the Radio 1 studio (above, left), Cotton leaves her chocolate brown shearling coat open to show off a multi-hued sweater. She doesn’t sacrifice her strappy sandals for the winter, wearing them with colored socks to keep her toes warm–a look that, admittedly, won’t work on wet days.

Heading to a taping at the BBC’s Live Lounge (above, right), she wears an oversized fisherman’s sweater, a stylish and warm essential for winter with a funky spotted scarf. The snow on the ground is no match for her black boots.

Cotton’s collared dress peeks out from under a black sweater and charcoal peacoat (above, left). Talk about layers! Her tights alternate between stripes of flirty black lace and cozy velvet. Her neutral color palette keeps the multi-textured look from becoming too chaotic.

That same peacoat protects a silky turquoise dress paired with thick tights and lace-up boots (above, right). A chunky black scarf, fingerless gloves (for easier texting), and Russian-style fur hat take the outfit from cool to hot.

Take a cue from Cotton and incorporate your favorite warm weather pieces by pairing them with heartier layers for when you have to walk in a winter wonderland.
