White Dresses on the Red Carpet

Rachel Zoe famously professed her love for what she calls a “white moment,” and recently there have been many on the red carpet. A white dress is the eptiome of glamour and invokes memories of Marilyn Monroe‘s pleated skirt ruffled in the air, or almost anything Grace Kelly wore. White can show off a fabulous tan, and can offset colorful jewels or vibrant makeup; it is also a refreshing change if you’re used to wearing all black. Think back to Kate Hudson in her white Armani gown, or Eva Mendes in a white Dior with turquoise jewelry on the red carpet.  Below, are some actresses who have really rocked the white trend this month.

In lace Dolce & Gabbana and a white tuxedo, Blake Lively proves that a demure gown need not look overly feminine or innocent. She paired the dress with dove grey ankle booties, giving it a tougher look. Michelle Monaghan knows exactly how to wear this white form fitting, off-the-shoulder gown, and it looks great paired with a dark smoky eye. Her stunning knee-length dress has an air of sophistication and mature beauty.

Dolce & Gabbana is having a lace moment, and celebrities are loving their lace dresses. Anne Hathaway chose to keep her white dress simple, giving it a softer feminine feel with tie-die heels, a suede clutch, and soft, undone hair. Sporting a white rosette dress with a black sash, Kate Winslet shows that a strapless white dress need not signify bridesmaids or prom dresses. Her sophisticated updo and wide ribbon belt are fresh and glamorous.
