Coachella 2011: Celebrity Style Roundup

This year’s Coachella festival had its share of funky fashions from florals to fedoras to maxis. Celebs are a staple at the annual event thanks to the festival’s proximity to Los Angeles. The desert heat in Indio often determines what attendees wear, and strategic planning definitely comes into play. The stars know the event also serves as an unconventional runway with photogs snapping pics throughout the three-day festivities, with some even enlisting the help of a stylist to look camera ready. Here is just a sampling of some of the celebrity fashion standouts from Coachella 2011.

Actress Jamie Chung got it right, artfully clashing a zigzag striped tee with floral printed shorts. The light-colored hat, slight cat-eye shades, blue bag and combat boots all prove to be great accessories. Former Disney darling Vanessa Hudgens went full-on Bohemian with her midriff-baring orange tribal pattern top, coordinating drawstring bottoms, and trusty floppy hat. Her heavy gold jewelry and macrame fringe cross body may have been overkill.

90210 cast member Jessica Stroup played down the illustrated print on her mini dress by layering a light army green sleeveless button-up and finishing off with ankle cuffed sandals. Alessandra Ambrosio seemed every bit the model in a flirty dusty rose polka dot tank dress with tiered skirt. What helped amp up her minimalist outfit was that colorful fringed gypsy scarf.

Day 2

Looking cool, comfortable and classic, Diane Kruger paired a tan maxi skirt with a loose chocolate tank. The actress, whose accessories included a straw fedora and studded skinny belt, hit the festival with boyfriend Joshua Jackson also appearing relaxed in a white button-front shirt and jeans. The ladylike lacy dress Katy Perry sported worked because of its pale hue. The speckled headband and string of pearls was a bit much, though.

Kate Bosworth shows off her American pride boasting a flag tank, shorts with exposed pockets and those hefty tan hi-tops help disrupt the predominantly white ensemble. There may be a bit of controversy concerning whether she used a stylist, but the overall effect is pretty tame by festival standards. Gossip Girl‘s Jessica Szohr went head-to-toe black courtesy of a strapless jumpsuit, quilted bag and fabric sandals.

Day 3

Actress Malin Akerman punctuated a triangle bikini top with a partly mesh ivory vest and haphazardly laced boots. Twilight star Ashley Greene earns points for letting her accessories take center stage including a fedora with patterned ribbon accent, fringed bag featuring a braided strap and tri-buckle short brown boots.
