Cat Deeley’s British Bohemian Style

It seemed like the whole world was watching the Royal Wedding at the end of last month, and that means a lot of people tuned into networks like CNN for coverage. The 24-hour news channel did a smart bit of casting by enlisting Cat Deeley to report on the big event. The English star is best known to U.S. audiences as the gregarious and stylish host of Fox’s So You Think You Can Dance. Cat’s fashion sense is pretty spot-on most of the time, managing to merge designer elegance with casual gear projecting a sort of British bohemian aura.

For her duties as a CNN special correspondent, Cat went classy with a hippie twist. She sported an ivory laser-cut short sleeve blouse and black leather shorts while filming outside Buckingham Palace during the wedding preparations. Of course, Cat impressed us with her fashionable abilities long before the Royal Wedding. The pale one-shouldered, floor length Alberta Ferretti she donned for the 61st Emmys back in September 2009 was the very picture of sophistication.

Never afraid to wear mainstream selections, Cat arrived to the launch party for the Jimmy Choo collection for H&M in November 2009 in an embellished jet black number from the Christopher Kane collection for Topshop. She sensibly finished off the look with Jimmy Choo for H&M heels. It was back to high-end designer fare for the 2010 BRIT Awards in February of last year, where Cat sparkled in a Matthew Williamson Pre-Fall 2010 mini. Jimmy Choos and a box clutch served as accessories.

When Cat falls in love with accessories, those pieces become repeat performers. She sure favors her Mulberry Mitzy hobo and Isabel Marant Dana boots. She was once again spotted carrying the bag and the fringed canvas footwear departing her hotel in New York City in March 2010. A vintage maxi creation set off by a Balenciaga bag was Cat’s uniform for a summer day at the 2010 Cartier International Polo event.

This complicated crystal encrusted Jenny Packham Spring 2010 dress featured light blue satin underlay. Cat might have gone a bit overboard by adding a white Mongolian fur coat when she attended The Art of Elysium’s 2nd Annual Genesis Awards at the end of August 2010, since the overall look appeared a bit disheveled. At least those Lance sandals by Jimmy Choo helped anchor the ensemble. While a belted military jacket from the Burberry Prorsum Fall 2010 line was Cat’s go-to piece for the fashion house’s Spring 2011 London show this past September.
