140 Character New York Fashion Week Reviews

What else but NYFW would fashionistas bother to tweet about this week? We’ve rounded up reactions and opinions—but mostly gushes—from Lori Goldstein, Tavi Gevinson, Coco Rocha, and other fashion insiders.

What doesn’t super-stylist Lori Goldstein like about NYFW? Cellphone picture-snapping crowds, apparently. “This is what I just can’t about fashion ‘week’” she tweeted in probably the first non-gushing review we’ve seen.

Nicki Minaj, who has sat front row with Anna Wintour at a number of shows, had an enthusiastic response to Oscar de la Renta: “OMFG! Someone get me an ambulance. Upon seeing Oscar De La Renta’s new line, I’m #!@%*#ing GAGGING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!” Not sure if that’s a good thing, but editor of VMAN Derek Blasberg raved about the show. “Oscar de la Renta proved once again, he’s the king of New York elegance. Long dresses, beautifully cut, in color and crochet…” he tweeted.

Pint-sized fashionista Tavi Gevinson had good things to say about the Band of Outsiders show, which she called “kinda magical.”

What’s Coco Rocha’s word to the wise for the runway audiences? “I may have left #NYFW but I do have one note for all show-goers: If you’re not in the front row you probably don’t need the sunglasses,” tweeted the seasoned supermodel.

NYTimes fashion critic Cathy Horyn loved the spring looks at Narcisco Rodriguez. “Narcisco finale, with linen jackets, beautiful dresses, and fluid silk pants. Seduction, isolation, lovely,” she tweeted.

Sophia Bush rolled out the adjectives about Chris Benz and Tibi. “The @cmbenz show yesterday was jaw-dropping. Stunning. Fresh. #WOW #nyfw #sparkle #CBlove. The @TibiPR show was gorgeous. Clean. Linear. Elegant. Very refreshing. #nyfw,” she tweeted.

Here’s Harper’s Bazaar fashion market editor Joanna Hillman’s quip about Herve Leger: “There is enough bandage fabric in Herve’s front row to wrap-up Lincoln Centre @harpersbazaarus #nyfw.”

Emma Roberts looked forward to one of her favorite designers. “Marchesa show! So excited. Always have such beautiful dresses! I feel like a princess in mine!” tweeted the actress. Kelly Osbourne was stuck in traffic and almost missed it, but called Marchesa “like a fairy tale so beautiful” and “like being in a dream.”

This far into the week, Bryan Boy needed a breath of fresh air—who did it come from? “phillip lim was seriously a breath of fresh air in this sea of prints,” tweeted the prolific blogger.

One show made Nicky Hilton feel patriotic. “Diane von Furstenberg is truly a class act. Loved that she ended her show by passing out American flags,” she tweeted.
