Adele: Emerging Style Icon

Karl Lagerfeld Insults Adele

It was only last month that fashion guru Karl Lagerfeld set the media world on fire with his comment on Adele being “a little too fat, but she has a beautiful face and a divine voice.” He later had to publicly apologise, explaining that his words had been taken out of context, and that he was her biggest fan. Nevertheless, in response to Lagerfeld, Adele stated, “I’ve never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”

Adele’s New Hollywood Look

As a strong role model with her own sense of self and style, it’s therefore rightly so that Vogue has chosen to celebrate Adele. Adele’s style trends towards old-fashioned and radiates a vintage feel. She keeps her makeup simple, and always sticks to shapes which suit her rather than adhering to the latest fad. It also appears that ever since she’s made it in America, her style exudes an essence of Hollywood glamour.

Thank You Anna Wintour

Adele’s style has come a long way since she first began her music career, where she often opted for baggy clothes and flat shoes. Adele believes that her style overhaul is credited to Anna Wintour who styled her for the 2009 Grammy awards. Anna also introduced her to Barbara Tfank who designed Adele’s dress for the Grammy awards, and who has continued to create pieces for her ever since.

Thanks to Anna, Adele can now walk in heels!
