Style Showdown: Leighton Meester and Freida Pinto Face Off in Ferragamo

Trend #1: Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2012

Miss: At the Salvatore Ferragamo Resort 2013 presentation at the Louvre, A-listers rubbed designer-clad elbows, checked out the new collection, and had their fortunes told by Leighton Meester—or at least that’s the gypsy woman vibe her outfit gives me. The beaded skirt is chic, but the off-the-shoulder blouse with its gratuitous ties and ruffles just looks silly. The actress should’ve considered that the look’s cherry color would clash with her new auburn locks, but she couldn’t have predicted that she would awkwardly blend in with the background.

Hit: Freida Pinto’s outfit from the same collection at the same event was spot-on. I love the way the embellished body of the dress is offset by the sheer sleeves but continues in a detail at the cuffs. Her dark nails, simple hair, and romantic makeup finished the polished look.

Trend #2: Boyfriend Jeans

Miss: Jennifer Aniston and her boyfriend Justin Theroux arrived in Paris this week, and it looks like Aniston helped him pack light by wearing his jeans. The actress paired her overly droopy denim with a belt that barely held them up, Balmain jacket, and white sneakers. We all like to travel in comfort but slouchy is one thing and saggy is another.

Hit: Ashley Tisdale rocked the boyfriend denim look while shopping in Santa Monica. She found the balance between a relaxed and slim fit with her light wash cuffed jeans. She kept the rest of her outfit casual with an oversized heather gray t-shirt, floppy hat, buckled ankle boots, and colorful quilted bag.

Trend #3: Black and White and Emily All Over

Close call: I loved both Emily VanCamp‘s and Emily Blunt’s black and white outfits this month. The look is simple, classic, and incredibly easy to pull off. VanCamp went more feminine with her flouncy black Rachel Zoe skirt and textured cap-sleeve Monique Lhuillier top she wore to the Revenge photocall at the Monte Carlo Film Festival. Emily Blunt looked a bit more dressed down in London in black skinnies by Joe’s Jeans, and a loose-fitting white pullover with rolled up sleeves and a leather satchel. Both Emilys accesorized with gray footwear, Vancamp choosing snakeskin heels and Blunt going with suede Jimmy Choo ankle booties. Which Emily’s black and white look do you want to steal?
