Trend #1: Shiny Top

You might be surprised to learn that Blake Lively’s maroon minidress with a PVC yoke and Julianne Hough’s oxblood column gown with a shiny leather top aren’t from the same collection — in fact, they’re not even by the same designer. It appears that Lively’s Marios Schwab look at the premiere of The Croods and Hough’s Emilio de la Morena dress from the “A Night With Nicholas Sparks” event are suffering from a case of designer do-over. When it comes to these stars and their fantastic plastic tops, whose look do you love?

Trend #2: A Little Bit Country, A Little Bit Metal

At the ACM Awards, country stars Taylor Swift and Jana Kramer went heavy metal. Swift dazzled in a Dolce & Gabbana gown covered in pewter sequins and jewels. The fringe effect that dripped from her waist looked just like the gold fringe on Kramer’s Badgley Mischka gown, which was also spangled with heavy dose of glitz. Neither star took home an award that night, but whose look do you think is the winner?

Trend #3: Colorblocked Osman Yousefzada

Osman Yousefzada may not yet be a household name, but you’re certain to recognize his designs. Beyoncé Knowles wowed in a colorblocked black-and-white jumpsuit by the young London designer at the Grammy Awards. Her look made such a splash that it’s surprising that English actress Anna Shaffer would attempt a re-run of the dynamic style. Shaffer did just that the Royal Television Programme Awards, wearing a dress version that took the colorblocking all the way down the side. Beyoncé’s a hard act to follow, but do you agree that Shaffer looked pretty stunning?
