The biggest news coming out of Jason Wu’s resort show was not the fact that his collection received critical acclaim. What made the headlines (and Page Six) was the fact that American Vogue Editor-in-Chief Anna Wintour actually took off her sunglasses and, after receiving a call, left four minutes before the resort show started. The editrix missed the show entirely.
Fashion Week Daily did some digging, and found out from a Vogue staffer that Wintour had a plane to catch, and that she had already seen the young designer’s collection and liked it.
Wu’s collection had a youthful touch to it. The length of most looks were shorter than they have been in the past (most grazed the top of the knee), and there were some flirty dresses. There were a number of decorative touches such as striped tops and bow tie detailings that made the collection feel very resort, especially given the airy feel of the designer’s color palette.
There was a nice mix of form-fitting and loosely-draped looks, all of which were expertly tailored.
