TIFF 2013 Red Carpet Trends: They’re Hot and They’re Cold

It seems that this year’s Toronto International Film Festival has passed by in a blur of sequins and entourages. Did you manage to spot any stars during their touchdown in T.O.? It’s true that getting anywhere near a red carpet was an obstacle course of screaming fans and security, but if you missed out on the celebrity ogling, there’s one noticeable trend you may not have spotted: the hot and cold colour collection…

The Reds

A much-talked about new name within TIFF, Mia Wasikowska (new girlfriend of Jesse Eisenberg), could have stopped traffic in her red sleeveless column gown by Christian Dior that she paired with Brian Atwood heeled sandals. At the top of the A-List, Julia Roberts also dressed as a lady in red (again, ahem, Pretty Women), donning a Fall 2013 Dolce & Gabbana minidress. Finally, a pregnant Melissa George drew attention to her “Oh Baby!” by wearing a kaftan style gown, minus the frump.

The Blues

Keira Knightley was a style winner in her magical forest dress, a purple and green strapless number by Mary Katrantzou, which really did feature a picturesque pond amid a lush woodland scene. Jessica Chastain also got the memo about wearing watery hues, selecting a form-fitting turquoise Atelier Versace dress that played well against her fiery locks. Meanwhile, Dakota Fanning opted for a deeper shade of blue with her off-the-shoulder, long-sleeved Valentino dress. So whose style do you covet the most from this sizzling hot and sublimely cool collection?
