Erdem Wins Big at BFAs: His Top Red Carpet Looks

The Canadian-born designer moved to London to attend the Royal College of Art, before working in the design studios of fashion icon Diane von Furstenberg in New York upon graduation. He later returned to the UK to launch his eponymous label in 2005, which is now known for its modern, feminine designs and vibrant, custom-designed prints.

This BFA prize is the second consecutive victory for Moralioglu — having won the New Establishment Award at last year’s awards ceremony — but with a star-studded following that ranges from Kate Middleton (she famously wore an Erdem shift as she showed off her bump at a primary school) to Claudia Schiffer, the only way is up for this talented expat. And in honor of such a stratospheric rise, herewith I’m including three of Erdem’s best red carpet looks…

Julianne Moore

The ever-graceful and glowing Julianne Moore donned this custom, full length, black and white floral print Erdem gown to the 2010 New York premiere of The Kids Are Alright, teaming the creation with a Bulgari clutch and jewelry.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Gwyneth Paltrow made a much needed recovery after her sheer Antonio Berardi disaster, saving face with this stylish and on-trend, floral print Erdem pantsuit at the Paris premiere of Iron Man 3. She teamed the look with Jimmy Choo shoes as blogs commended her for the blossoming ensemble.

Anne Hathaway

Feelings on the ever-sprightly Anne Hathaway aside, the Les Miserables actress certainly won fans at the recent Producer’s Guild Awards after wearing this pretty, embroidered Erdem number. Needless to say, she somewhat shunned the black dress code, but still managed to look as pretty as a spring day.
