Get the Look: Jessica Brown Findlay’s Pastel-Perfect Ice Queen Style

You probably know her as the fiercely beautiful Lady Sybil Crawley of Downton Abbey, but 24-year-old Jessica Brown Findlay doesn’t just work a good corset and period drama hat.

This winter, the English rose is swapping the historical County of Yorkshire for mythical New York City to star as free-spirited heiress Beverly Penn in the dramatic suspense saga Winter’s Tale. Besides the obvious perks of looser costumes and Colin Farrell (who plays her love interest), the film is also Jessica’s chance to hit her stride on the red carpet. And if her appearance at Winter’s Tale’s UK premiere in February was anything to go by, we’re sensing lots of benevolent ice queen vibes in the style of Cate Blanchett, mixed with a little of Jennifer Lawrence’s quirky strain of cool.

For the premiere, Jessica wore a frosted 50s prom style gown in cotton candy stripes by Christian Dior Couture. While all those textured ruffles could have easily pushed her in the direction of the toilet paper holder, nonchalantly wavy hair and a sharp choice of footwear added just the necessary cool girl edge. And though the best accessory was one Colin Farrell, her iced out diamond earrings look straight from the film’s mythical city setting.

But the best thing about this look is it proves dressing up in winter doesn’t have to suck. See below for a more affordable, reality-appropriate take on Jessica’s pastel-perfect ice queen steez. (Though if you happen to be planning any nights out in a supernatural city realm, by all means stick with the couture.)
