There are so many rules about wearing white that I can’t keep them straight. Apparently, celebrities can’t either – they’ve been spotted out and about donning jackets and blazers in pastel shades ranging from cream to khaki. Whether as a homage to Michael Jackson’s famous white Thriller album cover jacket, or just as a refreshing twist on the traditional spring cover-up, it’s clear from these celebs that this trend is white-hot.

Strong shoulders with white embellishments like studs, rhinestones, and bold hardware bring to mind my old Barbie bedazzling kit, but Kim Kardashian, two-time Dancing With the Stars winner Julianne Hough, and former 3LW member Adrienne Bailon know how to rock the 80’s-inspired white jacket. (For more outerwear options, check out how Kim Kardashian rocks trench coat chic).

Alyssa Milano balances the collar on her white jacket with sleek black jeans, as she heads to a taping of Good Morning America, proving that a white jacket works well with a tan.

Even getting out of a car is a model moment for Gisele Bundchen, where she makes a cropped light khaki jacket look anything but neutral.

Light jackets aren’t just for the young and hot, but also for the young at heart, as seen on Katie Couric, photographed in a pale pink coat.

Keifer Sutherland gives the trend a thumbs-up from the guy’s side, shopping in a barely-khaki coat.

So go ahead and try a white jacket for Spring 2010.
