BIG CHANGES AT ELLE MAGAZINE

Many changes are currently afoot at Elle Magazine (US), most notably, the surprising departure of Nina Garcia, who’s held the esteemed position of fashion editor since 2000. Nina has become most recognizable from her appearances on Bravo TV’s Project Runway. She’s been a permanent judge on the show, along with supermodel Heidi Klum and designer Michael Kors for the past four seasons. Her departure from Elle is a shock to many and it is not yet confirmed what her future plans will be, but she has been confirmed to continue judging on Project Runway’s fifth season.

In addition to Nina’s departure there have also been some others. Bookings editor Claudine Ingeneri has left, as well as Florence Sicard, who was formerly the magazine’s deputy art director for many years. So far there’s yet to be any confirmation on the future endeavors of either.

While there have been a lot of people leaving Elle, there are also some big promotions being made; Kate Lanphear being at the top of the list. Kate has been gaining quite a buzz in the past year, due to her marvelously monochromatic personal style and recognizable platinum bob. Kate, who was previously senior style and marketing editor, has now moved up to become the magazine’s style director.

The promotions don’t stop there, as former senior fashion market editor, Joann Pailey, now holds the position of market director. The first being Malina V. Joseph,  who was a fashion assistant at Elle, being  promoted to fashion bookings editor. Jade Frampton, another former fashion assistant with the magazine, has been promoted to the position of market editor.

Despite all of these changes, there is still much left to be announced, such as who will fill the former shoes of Nina Garcia. Only time will tell, but in the meantime we are very much looking forward to seeing the effects of the new promotions made.
