L.A. FASHION WEEK HAS A 50-50 CHANCE OF CONTINUING

Smashbox Studios says this week’s Los Angeles Fashion Week may be the last.

Smashbox co-founders Dean and Davis Factor said Wednesday that they are parting ways with fashion event organizer IMG after partnering for five years on the event.

Dean Factor says this week’s Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week will be Smashbox’s last season with IMG, and there’s a “50-50 chance” that L.A. Fashion Week will continue.

IMG, which also produces fashion weeks in New York, Miami, London, Moscow, Berlin and other cities, did not immediately comment beyond saying “we are 100 percent focused on the current event.”

Dean Factor says Smashbox has not yet legally separated from the partnership, but calls the split mutual. He says Smashbox is working with “high-level people” toward putting on future fashion weeks in L.A.
