THAKOON TO HIT TARGET

There is so much talk when it comes to Michelle Obama’s fashion choices and among the new first lady’s favorite designers is Thakoon Panichgul, who designed the dress Obama wore to the Democratic National Convention.  The timing for her to wear Thakoon, who puts avant-garde twists on traditionally-shaped garments, couldn’t have been better given the upcoming release of Target’s latest Go International collection, Thakoon for Target.

Target Senior vice president Trish Adams has said that “Thakoon Panichgul is an extraordinary design talent with a keen eye whose brilliantly priced collection is sure to please our guests. His silhouettes are trend-forward with an urban femininity, providing chic looks at a great value.”

Panichgul graduated from Boston University with a business degree, before moving to New York to work as a merchandiser for J. Crew and then as a fashion writer for Harper’s Bazaar. Panichgul then attended Parsons School of Design to study fashion design and in September 2004 he launched his namesake ready-to-wear collection.

The Thakoon for Target capsule resort collection will be available in most stores and on target.com from December 28th through January 31st and will include tees, tunics, belted, blousy A-line dresses, short-sleeve hip-length cardigans, cropped pants, and  swimwear – many done in the Thai-born designer’s signature prints and ranging in price from $16.99 – $44.99.
