Scant is the week where there isn’t a new city being hailed as the newest fashion hotspot and even scanter are the weeks sans a Fashion Week taking place somewhere, but there is beauty – no matter how well known or under the radar the designers are – in there being a focus and excitement about fashion all around the world. That said, with Fashion Month in sight, Amsterdam International Fashion Week is upon us.
The twice yearly Amsterdam International Fashion Week, which started back in 2004 and for this season will run from January 24th through February 1st, has a full schedule of runway shows, trade fairs, presentations, lectures, and parties. The shows take place at the former Gas Factories in Amsterdam’s ‘Westergas’ area. There is also Fashion Week Downtown which consists of public catwalk shows, parties, shop launches, lectures and expositions all organized in collaboration with local museums, galleries, clubs and shops, much to the delight of the public.
This season among the designers showing in Amsterdam there are — Bibi van der Velden, Claes Iversen, Oilily Women, Monique Collignon, and Michael Barnaart van Bergen.
