NAOMI & MAI MUMBAI

Supermodel Naomi Campbell and Hotelier Vikram Chatwal have joined forces to host ‘Mai Mumbai,’ a Fashion For Relief benefit on Saturday, March 28th during Lakme Fashion Week. The event will raise funds and awareness for Citizens For Justice and Peace, an organization aiding the victims of the 26/11 Mumbai terrorist attacks.

Citizens for Justice and Peace (CJP) was formed by a group of Mumbai citizens to promote communal harmony and friendship between the people of India and to fund much needed ambulance services, trauma centers, and community hospitals.

Fashion For Relief’s ‘Mai Mumbai’ will bring together, on the catwalk, top international and national faces of fashion, Bollywood stars, athletes and prominent social and business leaders.

The show will feature Indian-inspired gowns by some the world’s most renowned designers, including Yves Saint Laurent, Louis Vuitton, Dolce & Gabbana, Versace, Zac Posen, Roberto Cavalli, Isaac Mizrahi, Donna Karan, Ungaro, Matthew Williamson, Naeem Khan, Oscar de la Renta, Carolina Herrera, Vera Wang, Valetin Yudashkin, Anna Sui, Badgley Mischka, Nanette Lepore, Dennis Basso, Diane von Furstenberg and shoes by Manolo Blahnik.

Catwalk looks will be available for purchase at the event via a silent auction, and online on eBay with proceeds being donated to support CJP’s initiatives.

World-renowned model Naomi Campbell created Fashion for Relief in 2005 and she is also organizing the show in association with IMG Fashion.

Naomi Campbell noted that she is honored to be working with IMG on Fashion For Relief’s Mai Mumbai, adding: “I love India and have always felt very welcome when visiting the country. When the terrorist attacks happened last year, my heart went out to the people of Mumbai. We are using this platform to raise funds for Citizens For Justice and Peace and to raise awareness of their important work.”

Fern Mallis, Sr. VP of IMG Fashion and “International Ambassador” of LFW proclaimed that her team has been working very closely with Naomi, stating that “her endless energy, enthusiasm, and non-stop calling of her friends, designers, and colleagues is really helping to pull the event together. It was a no-brainer for us to reach out to Naomi, who is passionate about India, to come aboard during LFW and help us to once again bring all of our relationships, friendships, and business associates together for Mai Mumbai. The international fashion community has always used India for it’s inspiration and for its special ability to bead and embroider, and produce their garments.  This was an opportunity for designers to give back to this special city and country.”
