MULTIPLE BURGLARIES AT ANYA HINDMARCH

As if dealing with the economic downturn isn’t challenging enough, English designer Anya Hindmarch – who designs three collections each year, including her signature leather bags, shoes, luggage, small leather goods, a beach collection and a small range of ready to wear – has had to deal with a series of high profile burglaries.

Vogue UK reported that Anya Hindmarch boutique on London’s Pont Street was targeted in the early morning hours on Monday, May 4th.   Thieves on bikes stole approximately £45,000 worth of Anya Hindmarch’s Spring/Summer 2009 collection stock.

To add insult to injury, this is the sixth time one of Anya Hindmarch boutiques have been the subject of a burglary. Recently, thieves have broken into her stores on Ledbury Road, Sloane Street, and her Bond Street boutique. That said, the designer is resilient and the broken window of the Pont Street boutique was quickly replaced.  The boutique is once again open for business.

Hindmarch told Vogue.com that while she is devasted that one of her boutiques have been broken into once again, “I suppose it is flattering to think that there is a demand for our product, to be targeted so many times…but to have had such a great volume of stock taken is a real blow and disrupts our business.”
