ONLINE IS THE PLACE TO BE

Last season, around fashion week, Eric Wilson from The New York Times did a video interview with Alexander Wang which took place at Barneys New York. One of the most memorable parts of the interview was when Wilson asked the young designer about whether or not he ever feared his rapid expansion. Admittedly, Wang said he has made mistakes, but that overall his progression has been positive thus far, and that he was hopeful for what was to come. It seems that Wang, who just launched a menswear line, is on the right track. The latest recipient of the $200,000 Council of Fashion Designers of America (CFDA) and Vogue Fashion Fund along with a mentorship from CFDA president Diane Von Furstenberg, he is still sitting high as one of the most promising designers we have at the moment, and he certainly has developed nothing short of a cult following.

Now fashion’s young darling has added a stateside e-commerce site – “I love the idea of shopping in bed,” the designer told Style.com. The designer’s full line of bags, shoes as well women’s T by Alexander Wang Web exclusives will be available on the site. Men need not worry, however – come spring 2010 wears for them will be available as well. In fact, you can check out a short shot by Peter Szollosi for a behind-the-scenes look at a recent photo shoot by David Armstrong with model Vincent LaCrocq for Wang’s T by Alexander Wang men’s collection which will launch next Spring.

Besides Wang, celeb fave Martin Katz, has just launched an e-commerce portion of his website where shoppers – who have $2,400 and up to spare – can pick from an array of Katz’s signature jewelry pieces. Lastly, Michael Angel’s joins the e-commerce pack with a number of the Australian designer’s tops, dresses, and pants up for sale at michaelangelshop.net.
