If BCBG’s S/S 2009 collection could be summarized by one phrase it would be – pockets, pockets, pockets! It seemed that nearly every models strutting down the catwalk had her hands in the pockets of her exquisitely draped dress.

I have to say that I’m usually not the biggest BCBG fan (except last season’s shoes which were exquisite), but this season I found the collection to be utterly wearable, easy and comfortable, while being sexy and chic.

The collection started off with a neutral color palette, but slowly began incorporating dashes of rich orange, fuchsia, and teal. I especially loved a gray-toned dress with a deep, rich red dropped faux-collar — such a wonderful mix of minimalism with sass. There were also pops of bright accessories spicing-up some of the more neutral looks.

Most of the looks were loosely draped in an elegant Grecian sort of way and some garments had delicate straps across the back and belted waist giving the fluid silhouettes a little bit more of a structured shape.

Many of the garments, which were mostly made of jersey and silk, had plunging necklines, short hemlines, and slits. Yet, despite the daring cuts, the collection was not overtly sexy.

I didn’t think that Max Azria could top the BCBG fall runway shoes, but I’m delighted to see that I was proven wrong. The strappy mostly gray and black, plateau sandals were a perfect complement to the season’s garments.
