TWINKLE BY WENLAN SPRING 2009

Ultra-feminine frocks, many of them in light or neutral tones (notably Erin Fetherston, Verrier, Jill Stuart…) are certainly emerging as a big trend this season and Wenlan Chia’s Twinkle by Wenlan Spring 2009 collection was certainly no exception. Black, white, cream, and gray dominated with sapphire blue, pale pink, mint green, and lemon yellow highlights.

Most of the looks had trim silhouettes and this season splattered diamonds, vintage-inspired embellishments, abstract animal prints, rough wax, pastel embossments, cross-stitch sparrow and blossom motifs, and aboriginal carvings were all used to craft six new Twinkle prints.

While there weren’t too many knitted pieces in Chia’s silk-heavy collection (it is spring after all!), there was a beautiful silk cotton hand knitted white sweater dress that was paired with Peekaboo (one of the new Twinkle prints), bangles.
