Vogue Japan Gives Anna Ewers the Brigitte Bardot/Claudia Schiffer Treatment for January 2017

Japan has just delivered the first cover of the new year — and it’s a fierce one. While the majority of tFS forum members are still ogling the gorgeous December cover featuring Gigi Hadid, Japanese Vogue is moving on to January 2017 (yes, already) with German bombshell Anna Ewers. Channeling the likes of Brigitte Bardot and Claudia Schiffer, Anna rocks Miu Miu with a killer smoky eye and a nude lip, complemented by an effortlessly undone hairstyle before the lens of Vogue Japan regulars Luigi & Iango.

Amazingly, the cover generated mixed feedback on our forums. “The styling is atrocious especially compared to Anna’s hair and makeup which is beautiful, and reminds me very much of Natasha Poly,” Nymphaea pointed out.

“I don’t like the styling here but Anna is so good. Perfect choice for a start of the year!” approved narcyza.

Sharing the same attitude was zoom: “They gave Anna the full Bardot/Schiffer treatment and she carries it off effortlessly, same as the slightly overly complicated styling, although the contrast between her hair/makeup and clothing is interesting? Vogue Japan’s covers confuse me sometimes.”

ToniOrtega felt the same way. “Aside from the usual Bardot comparison, she looks like a mix of Natasha Poly and Lara Stone circa 2009. This is the best I’ve seen her in a while!! I do love how her tender beauty, sans the harsh makeup, complements her Miu Miu outfit quite nicely!” he echoed.

Also quick to show their approval was A.D.C: “First Gigi and now Anna. Hopefully Vogue Japan keeps on bringing out the best from their models.”

“Wow. This is just so beautiful! One of the best Vogue Japan covers of the year, no question,” heralded happycanadian.

“Oh my, Anna is the definition of perfection. Such a gorgeous cover. Great job Vogue Japan!” bluestar applauded.
