NYFW S/S 2011: New York City’s Largest Fashion Show Ever

To get the world excited about Fashion’s Night Out and to kick-start New York Fashion Week, Anna Wintour and her team at

Vogue

staged a ticketed, open-to-the-public Fashion’s Night Out fashion show that featured nearly every A-list model and designer, along with 1,500 spectators who each paid between $25 and $400 to attend the landmark event.

Held around the fountain in the plaza at Lincoln Center, the show was New York City’s largest public fashion show to date, and opened with a slew of supermodels arriving atop a double-decker tourist-style bus.

Naomi Campbell closed the show, which included 171 looks strutted by models that included Gisele Bundchen, Naomi Campbell, Coco Rocha, Alessanda Ambrosio, Lara Stone, Karolina Kurkova, Karlie Kloss, and Adriana Lima.

Each of the stunners wore a Fashion’s Night Out shirt and a designer floor length skirt when walking the circular catwalk.

The looks were organized by what Vogue has termed the most important fall trends.

A slew of celebrities, including Julianne Moore, Roger Federer, Ashley Tisdale, Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, Serena Williams, and Olivia Palermo, and designers like Diane Von Furstenberg, Carolina Herrera, Tommy Hilfiger, Vera Wang, Michael Kors, Donna Karan, Francisco Costa, Elie Tahari, Thakoon Panichgul, and Carolina Herrera, were all on hand to watch.
