D&G S/S 2011: Milan Fashion Week

Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana were inspired by picnics, flowers, and lush gardens for their Spring 2011 D&G collection.

Like Alberta Ferretti, Fendi, and Gucci, D&G was all about an optimistic outlook, bright colors, and prints this season. A young, playful, sexy look, typical of the lower-priced collection, included bubble-like shorts, skirts that opened in the back to reveal bloomers, midriff baring tops, and unbuttoned, bra-exposing tops that the designer duo perfected.

Known for their cartoonish prints on dresses and separates, D&G brought Snow White and the seven dwarfs to the collection this season – the perfect analogy for the naughty innocence that pervaded the show.

This season’s D&G was not groundbreaking in terms of being fashion forward, but the collection did what we expected from the brand – delivering fun, carefree, and effortless looks.

Surely, Topshop, Zara, and H&M will be inspired by this saleable D&G line.
