Tadashi Shoji Fall 2011 Runway Review

Tadashi Shoji gowns are staples on the red carpet, so it was fitting that a number of the designer’s celebrity fans – including Johnny Weir, Kat DeLuna, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Katrina Szish, Patrick McDonald, and Amanda Garrigus – were seated front row at his Fall 2011 show. This season, Shoji was inspired by ancient moss gardens in the Far East and the natural rock formations, intertwining branches and moss, and reflections of light and shadows in garden waters that they encompass. The designer’s inspiration translated into a parade of classic, feminine, draped dresses, many done in delicate silk crepe and silk chiffon fabrics and finished with feathers, fringe, and flower embellishments.
