Temperley London Fall 2011 Runway Review

It would appear that  Ralph Lauren was onto something at the end of NYFW with his deco-filled collection as designers in London are promptly following suit. In the halls of the British Museum, Alice Temperley marked the triumphant return of Temperley London with a stellar deco show that was well-rounded and left little to be desired.

The typically dress-heavy show was more cocktail than usual as the designer approached eveningwear with a keen eye of sophistication and 20s glamour. Modernized by contrasting textures, perfectly draped textiles, and the models’ effortless beauty, the collection was 2011’s answer to chic flapper style.

Chunky knits and a perfect smoking suit rounded out the collection, but the dresses are by far the standout pieces. Temperley London has never been a typical red carpet pick but stylists should get calling because these looks are sure to be hot commodities this awards season.
