Miranda Kerr’s Post-Baby Bikini Photoshoot; Anna Dello Russo Gets a Barbie Doll

After giving birth to her son Flynn in January, Miranda Kerr didn’t waste any time jumping head-first back into her career. Flynn wasn’t even two months old before his model mama called a babysitter so that Kerr could make her first post-baby runway debut at the Balenciaga Fall 2011 show in March. Kerr had worn a long, draped black frock on the catwalk that would have camouflaged any remnants of her baby bump, but it looks like whatever coverage the model might have needed a month ago is a thing of the past. This weekend, Kerr splashed around Malibu wearing nothing but an itty-bitty black bikini for a Victoria’s Secret photoshoot, making it abundantly clear that she’d annihilated any post-baby bulge (photo below). In fact, the model is so absy that I’m beginning to doubt that she actually birthed a child less than three months ago – maybe it was all just a dream, or maybe the supermodel just hired a personal trainer and got really into oat bran. Apart from booking tons of Fall 2011 ad campaigns, Isabeli Fontana took the cover of this month’s Spanish Vogue. The black-and-white cover, shot by Greg Kadel (above), is all glamour and mystery, proving that the model’s most recent career success is very well deserved. [DesignScene]

Today’s WWD reports on some of the hubbub going on behind the scenes at Dior, as the ladies and gentlemen in power grapple with finding a replacement for John Galliano. The short list of contenders is, as it turns out, not very short: Tom Ford, Hedi Slimane, Olivier Theyskens, Nicholas Ghesquière, Alber Elbaz, Haider Ackermann, Prabal Gurung, and Alexander McQueen’s Sarah Burton are all “suggested candidates” up for the job. “In other words, everyone. That’s some crack journalism there,” quipped Damien at the Ford Models Twitter. “Sarah & Tom are the outliers of the bunch, but nevertheless, the speculation is a bit over the top.” WWD‘s account of the deliberation says that Dior is biding its time until the Royal Wedding: if Sarah Burton dresses Kate Middleton for the big day, the designer’s chances of landing the position at Dior will skyrocket – but would Burton really want to leave her post at Alexander McQueen? Anyway, I vote Alber Elbaz for everything, just because he’s truly the cuddliest teddy bear in the world and he loves ladies (not like, in a creepy way). But I guess mine’s just another voice in the peanut gallery: apparently plenty of editors have been haranguing Dior with unsolicited opinions about who would be the best bet to replace Galliano. Today’s the best day ever, because today’s the day I found out that Anna Dello Russo has her own Barbie doll, and she’s just as excited about it as I am, apparently. “Finally I got ADR-BARBIE! in full DOLCE&GABBANA lace black dress and leopard accessories,” the Vogue Nippon editor wrote on her blog. [Side-note: Wouldn’t it be great if ADR put out a style manual outlining her rules regarding all-caps and spacing?] The Barbie was made in collaboration with Mattel Italy, and the doll is wearing the same outfit ADR wore to the Burberry men’s show in Milan last summer. A pretty revealing outfit for a children’s toy, but that’s the least of my complaints. Here’s what I’m worried about: how can an ADR Barbie only have one outfit? That goes against everything that both Anna Dello Russo and Barbie stand for, and I’m not having it! This is my call to arms: Men and women of the internet, you have nothing to lose but your chains, you have a world to save! Can’t someone please start an Etsy shop with lots of Barbie-sized ADR replica outfits? Move swiftly, time is of the essence. [Styleite, ADR blog]
