Jessica Alba Poses for Piaget; Kate Winslet Lands St. John

Jessica Alba by Patrick Demarchelier

Piaget has just announced that Jessica Alba signed on as ambassador of their Possession jewelry line. The brand released photos of the actress styled by former Rachel Zoe assistant, Brad Goreski, and photographed by Patrick Demarchelier. In addition to a single black-and-white portrait (left), Alba appears in five color shots and a behind-the-scenes video (below) for the Swiss luxury label. [WWD]

Another actress has signed on to be the face of a luxury brand: Kate Winslet is the latest St. John's girl, following in the footsteps of Gisele Bündchen, Angelina Jolie, Karen Elson, and Kelly Gray. The Academy Award winner is shooting the label's Fall 2011 campaign with Craig McDean in New Jersey today. The ads will run in September. [WWD]

Following Karl Lagerfeld's mythology-themed 2011 calendar, Mario Sorrenti will be shooting the prestigious 2012 Pirelli Calendar. Models haven't yet been booked, but rumor has it that the up-and-coming Russian model, Anna Selezneva, was hand-picked for the project. [Modelina]

Sorry to disappoint you, but even though Daphne Guinness will be getting dressed for the Met Ball in the Barney's windows, she'll never actually be undressed: "I am not doing a burlesque — no way. I’m going to be getting dressed behind something. I’m not Dita Von Teese, nor shall I be.”  [NYTimes]

I know many people extol the virtue of suffering for beauty, but trying on three versions of the same garment in different sizes seems like an unnecessary torture. To combat the arbitrary sizing and confusing measurement charts that make shopping a chore, some malls are installing a new system of full-body scanners that'll provide customers with a printout with personalized sizing information for each store.
