Beyonce Supports Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move! Campaign

It’s no secret that fitness plays a big part in President Obama and Michelle Obama’s life, and with her “Let’s Move!” childhood obesity initiative, the First Lady is trying to educate the rest of the country on the importance of being physically active as well. As part of the initiative today, May 3, middle school students across the country participated in a pre-choreographed “Let’s Move!” dance/workout routine. The routine was based on a video featuring Beyonce that had been distributed to participating schools to help them prepare for the event. Beyonce agreed to rework her song “Get Me Bodied” for the video, titled “Move Your Body” and she recorded the rewritten song in English and Spanish.

The video, appropriately enough, takes place in a school cafeteria and features children on a lunch line making healthy food choices before they break out in a mix of hip hop, Latin, and dance hall moves combined with traditional exercises like jumping rope.

Just in case the kids broke out in a sweat while partaking in the 12-minute routine, Coty distributed samples of Beyonce’s fragrance, Heat Rush, at Official Schools throughout the United States.

Side note: While the video supports the First Lady’s initiative, the White House was not involved in this particular project.
