Forum Buzz: Beyonce Gets Dazed & Confused; Lara Stone Lands Tom Ford Beauty

She may not literally be dazed and confused, but Beyoncé is the cover girl of the July 2011 issue of Dazed & Confused. Decked out in Givenchy, Beyoncé’s turn on the cover seems to be a big hit with forum members.

“Now that’s an eye catching cover! Absolutely love it!!” exclaimed Psylocke. Thiago:) agreed, saying, “It looks great! Love the styling.”

Mousyy was able to put all previous biases aside and appreciate what Dazed & Confused was putting out. She posted: “Surprisingly I love the cover, and I’m not even a fan of Beyoncé. This Givenchy  collection works here as well; I disliked it on the runway but in print it looks just gorgeous.”

Agee was a big fan: “One of the best and most exciting covers and [editorials] that I have seen in a while, major kudos to the photographer, stylist, set/prop person and model! My only nitpicks are a little too much open mouth and I wish that they would have come up with another prop for Beyoncé to hold in her hand.”

Despite some minor criticisms, Dazed & Confused was definitely seeing clearly when they chose Beyoncé to cover this month’s issue. Well done.

Lara Stone is the Face of Tom Ford Beauty

Though she’s probably known more for her killer body than her face, Lara Stone has been chosen as the sultry front woman for Tom Ford Beauty. Photographed by Mert Alas & Marcus Piggott, she completely overshadows Tom Ford (and his beard), who costars in the campaign. We know this is his namesake line and he’s selling himself and his lifestyle as much as his products, but some forum members found his inclusion in the campaign to be a distraction.

“She looks great, why is he there?” asked carmen_kass. “This is a women’s cosmetics ad, no? I mean can you imagine Karl [Lagerfeld] next to Jac in her beauty ads? Am I the only one who finds this really odd and narcissistic on his part?” she continued.

Honeycombchild didn’t see a problem with Tom Ford’s inclusion in the ads: “Tom is part of his branding, that’s the point. It’s part of the package and ideal he sells. And who cares anyway, I’d quite happily spend a great deal of time looking at him.” It definitely doesn’t hurt that he’s easy on the eyes.

For the most part though, people enjoyed seeing Lara in this campaign. “The pictures are great,” wrote CommanderTMugler. “I love the extreme makeup which Mert and Marcus show very well, and Lara’s dynamic face made up to perfection.”

“Lara looks… magnificent,” lady stardust admired. Clocked observed: “She shouldn’t be able to pull off this campaign… but she does it without looking tacky.” That sounds like a compliment, right?

Sexy and dramatic with a hint of trashiness… that sounds like the Tom Ford formula to me.

This month’s American Vogue cover featuring Emma Watson photographed by Mario Testino may be the young actress’ best cover yet. TFS forum members can’t seem to get over how good she looks, and the praise is not just coming from those of use who are Harry Potter fans.

“Beautiful! Mario always finds a beautiful way to portray Emma,” wrote Chanelcouture09. “Such a beautiful cover!” gushed cottonmouth13. “Emma looks so gorgeous. I’m loving the slick combed back hair,” he wrote.

Fantastical praised, “Holy smokes, totally blew away all expectations. This looks amazing.”

Saann gave credit where credit is due, saying, “I’ve never cared much for Emma but she looks amazing here! One of Vogue’s best covers in a looong time.”

I for one still can’t believe that little Hermione is all grown up, but when she appears on magazine covers looking like this, she comes one step closer to convincing me.

Karen Elson and Jack White Celebrate Their Divorce

With celebrity divorces, it’s not uncommon for us to be fed the “we still remain the best of friends and really love each other” line, but I think throwing a party to jointly celebrate your sixth anniversary and upcoming divorce is a bit off-the-wall, no? Odd or not, that’s exactly what Karen Elson and Jack White are doing. The (former) couple released a statement to the following effect: “We remain dear and trusted friends and co-parents to our wonderful children Scarlett and Henry Lee. We feel so fortunate for the time we have shared and the time we will continue to spend both separately and together watching our children grow. In honor of that time shared, we are throwing a divorce party. An evening together in Nashville to re-affirm our friendship and celebrate the past and future with close friends and family.”

“This is what happens after you decide to get married within a week of meeting someone,” lucy92 quipped.

“A divorce party?” laughed Not Plain Jane. “That’s pretty hilarious. Kudos to them, though, if they can actually pull off the ‘happy apart’ thing.”

LUXXX wasn’t so amused by the idea of a divorce party. “Look, I think it’s great when people can still have respect and love for each other in a divorce. But wanting to party and act like everything’s cool? Dumb, I think. There are kids involved and no matter what, divorce is hard on kids. It’s nothing to celebrate,” she wrote.

To each their own I suppose. Divorce just doesn’t seem like a reason to celebrate no matter what the circumstances are, or how unconventional a couple you are.
