Charlotte Ronson Spring 2012 Runway Review

Given her appearance at Cynthia Rowley the night before, one couldn’t help but wonder whether Lindsay Lohan would make an appearance at Charlotte Ronson – she didn’t. That said, given that Ronson recently launched a beauty collection at Sephora where every product is named after one of her celebrity friends/family members, it was little surprise that a number of bold face names, including Patricia Field, Nicky Hilton, Margherita Missoni, Whitney Port, Kelly Osbourne, Joy Bryant, Russell Simmons, and Angela Simmons, did come to the young designer’s show, which gave the designer's fans the brand's signature army jackets, slip dresses, and cropped tops in new iterations.

Soft, patched denim mixed in with lightweight fabrics, trompe l’oeil patchwork prints, bands of lace, overalls, and fluttering crop tops, gave a slight western feel to part of the collection, especially given the some of the rusty colors used, while loose printed camis, sheer shorts, slip dresses, and wide pants picked up on the Resort season’s pajama trend. For the most part, however, Ronson avoided the in-your-face prints (save for some dizzying black and white printed garments) and bright colors (with the exception of the handful of ombre and red looks that closed out the show) that we’ve been seeing a lot of this season.

Whether inspired by the West, the 90s (notably via belts worn as chokers), PJs, or other, the collection stayed true to Ronson's downtown, casual aesthetic and the best looks, fashioned out of lace for a romantic take on dressed-down casual, will surely end up on any one of the young stars seated front row.
