Elie Saab Spring 2012 Runway Review

As the last show of the season, Elie Saab took a chance to remind us of some of this season’s biggest trends. Pleats, tailored trousers, and mixed textures told a story that was somewhat surprising for the designer who we expect to show classic ethereal eveningwear. Fans of the Lebanese designer shouldn’t be too scared, as there was plenty of flowing eveningwear as usual, but there was a more relaxed quality with an emphasis on feminine daywear. The palette was a rainbow of cream, saffron yellow, apricot, emerald green, and cobalt blue with monochrome embellishments throughout. Each color story had pieces for day or night with flirty knee length day dresses shown alongside tailored high waisted trousers and sequin-covered gowns.
