Herve Leger Spring 2013 Runway Review

Surprisingly, this season’s Max Azria-designed Herve Leger collection was not aggressively in-your-face when it came to sex appeal – perhaps it’s because the designer found himself inspired by, of all things, Alabama. That’s not to say that the collection wasn’t sexy; in fact, nearly every look was tightly fitted and the most memorable were body-con minis with intricate geometric details. The pieces were exceedingly more sophisticated however than your run-of-the-mill bandage dress and it was refreshing to see the brand branch out in a new direction while still staying true to its core aesthetic.

The most memorable pieces featured tight pleats and bustier tops and, of course, who could forget the swimsuits? If ever there were one-piece swimsuits that would require astronomical levels of self assurance it would be this season’s barely-there butt cheek-exposing styles. Anyone planning on actually diving into a body of water, stay away!

Harnesses, double straps, cutouts, structured clutches, and wide leather belts accented the cohesive, well-executed collection.
