Alexander Wang Spring 2013 Runway Review

Laser cutouts were the name of the game at Alexander Wang this season as the designer proved he is worthy of all the hype. Showing lots of structured but loosely fitted silhouettes that stood slightly away from the body, nearly every look was finished with laser cutouts for a more fashion-forward direction than we’ve seen in years past.

Dress shirt-inspired dresses were particularly memorable in the neutral-focused collection (black, white, silver) as well as fantastic hoodies and outerwear, notably loosely fitted jackets finished with drawstrings and oversized collars.

Looks were astutely styled with many layered so as to show off the cutouts and unlike most New York Fashion Week shows that have straightforward back and forth choreography, Wang opted for an intricately weaved walk that ended with models (including surprise model Liberty Ross), each with a glow-in-the-dark strip on their head, scattered around the runway before the lights went out and their clothes lit up.
