Marc Jacobs Spring 2013 Runway Review

Exposed lingerie, crop tops (including one with Mickey Mouse!), and long, lean, relaxed silhouettes were prevalent this season at Marc Jacobs, much like we’ve seen at many of the other shows. Notable in this collection, however, were the amount of thick, bold stripes the designer incorporated into his collection and his reliance on mostly neutral hues, a stark departure from the over-the-top textures, gigantic hats, and colors we saw last season.

Boldly striped fabrics were used for everything from separates to dresses and came in a variety of lengths. Ruffled collars, scalloped edges, and peplum details were also recurring and surprisingly wearable. For the more daring, the stripe prints progressed into psychedelic geometric prints, which worked particularly well for eveningwear.
