Rodarte Spring 2013 Runway Review

The colors, prints, and structured armor-like silhouettes made it hard not to think of recent Nicolas Ghesquière Balenciaga collections, while some of the more relaxed silhouettes recalled recent Proenza Schouler. That said, the amount of detail, and clearly handwork, that went into each piece shown in this season’s Rodarte collection was truly stunningly remarkable.

Unfortunately, the show could have benefited from better styling, especially when it came to clashing prints and textures which, given the amount of details on individual pieces, came to be a bit much. There was, however, much to love in the structured minis, geometric tops with cuffed sleeves, and the fringe accented eveningwear, no matter where initial inspiration may have come from.
