Nanette Lepore Spring 2013 Runway Review

It's easy to imagine Nanette Lepore getting restless with NYFW. As the week grows and expands, more and more emphasis is being placed on new contemporary designers and designers like Lepore are left in the dust. For the past few seasons, it appeared that she's felt the need to compete but luckily this season she went back to her roots and did what she does best: uncomplicated daywear that's ready-to-wear straight off the runway. If there's one thing Lepore knows, it's her customer. The Lepore woman is feminine and fuss-free and this season she got it right with her mixture of bright prints, sporty cuts, and her signature girly dresses. A palette of bright green, coral, and sky blue was refreshing and her loyal clientèle are sure to be pleased. The collection might have played it safe but the designer took a stand politically by including Obama-Biden buttons in her gift bags. Luckily, the fashion crowd is generally pretty liberal so that shouldn't ruffle too many feathers.
